Mackay & District Orchid Society held a New Members Workshop on Saturday 29th October hosted by Trevor Heitman who spoke on “Pest Management”.

His presentation was very interesting and informative on the way in which to combat all sorts of pests in your orchid house together with remedies for same. The twenty-six members who attended were pleased to have their queries answered with a bit of fun and frivolity.

The day was completed with a sausage sizzle and delicious sweets.

A most enjoyable time was had by all.

Many thanks goes to Trevor for his hospitality in hosting the workshop.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Another New Growers Workshop was held on Saturday 23rd April at Dennis and Ros Farlow’s residence. The workshop was well attended by more than just ‘new growers’ and we all learnt about different methods of propagating back cuts, hopefully to eventually flower. Dennis provided excellent information and was supported with additional information by some of the more experienced growers in the audience. The next workshop will be held on June23 at a venue and topic to be announced closer to the time.
